About Banwell Methodist Church

West Street, Banwell, North Somerset BS29 6DB
Minister - Rev Meg Slingo

Banwell Methodist Church is situated on the main road, the A371, almost opposite the Newsagents, in the centre of the village. There is a small car park to the front and side of the church capable of holding 10 cars. Additional car parking can be found in the village car park approximately 200 yards further along West Street, opposite the village school. Entrance to the church is via the steps to the front door, or via a ramp for disabled access to the side door. Once inside, all areas are on one level.

The church has a small dais lectern and a small lectern, both with microphones. A radio microphone is also available upon request. Music is from either the pipe organ, the piano or both.

The Church uses a range of worship materials including the Good News Pew Bible, Singing the Faith, Hymns and Psalms, Mission Praise and New Hymns and Worship.

A weekly 'Dispatches' newsletter is produced giving information about preachers, services, prayer points and forthcoming local and circuit events. Information for dispatches can be given to Laura Batt. Telephone 01934 863679. j_lbatt@btinternet.com

It is our custom for morning service, for a member of the congregation to read a small passage of scripture prior to the commencement of worship. A warm welcome and fellowship await all who visit us.

The village of Banwell is on the A371, the Weston-super-Mare to Wells Road, about 7 miles from the centre of Weston. Our main claim to fame, as a village, is the notorious traffic jams due to the very narrow roads. Our church sits at a point where the road narrows to single file on a bend in the road, hence the assistance on leaving the premises.

We share the Village Carol service with St Andrews, holding it alternatively each year. We also work with our Anglican and Roman Catholic friends for World Day of Prayer.

In recent years we have refurbished the school room which is now available to other groups in the village to hire. As part of this refurbishment we have two small offices, which could be available for hire.
